We recently asked the community if McCain would pick former HP CEO Carly Fiorina as his running mate and as of now, the community consensus is at a crushingly low 8% probability. So, while Fiorina seems the unlikely choice to The Standard's community, we want to vet another tech-related VP who might be chosen.
According to Politico.com, McCain may be announcing his choice for VP by the end of this week as the Democratic convention comes to a close.
"Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) plans to celebrate his 72nd birthday on Aug. 29 by naming his running mate at a huge rally in the battleground state of Ohio, Republican sources said."
With the recent news that Democratic front-runner Barack Obama has selected Joe Biden to be his VP candidate, and news leaking (to test the waters?) of Mitt Romney being at or near the top of McCain's short list, some old rumors have been on the rebound lately as well. To be precise, Meg Whitman.
The choice of a woman for the GOP ticket could be seen as a powerful and bold strategic move to court some of Hillary Clinton's unhappy supporters. While others point to 71-year-old Colin Powell, his allegiance to either front-runner is neither certain nor been made public.
Meg Whitman was the successful CEO of eBay for ten years, having stepped down in March of 2008. According to Wikipedia,
“Ms. Whitman joined eBay when it was a small auction website with 30 employees and revenues of more than $4 million. According to Forbes magazine, Whitman was worth an estimated $1.4 billion in 2007. She is one of only seven women to have been repeatedly ranked among the world's most influential people by Time magazine.”
When she first stepped down, there were rumors she was eyeing California’s governorship. That could still be the case.
However, this is a prediction that when McCain officially announces his running mate, it will be Silicon Valley veteran Meg Whitman. Let the community decide. Judgment will be made once the announcement is made in the mainstream media.

Thanks Hillary I am with you. Guess what though if McCain thinks that Sarah Palin represent all women including Hillary’s fan he is mistaken.
Since when is “Hockey Mom” a qualification it seems that every woman have a choice What to do with their lives .I’m sorry in order to compete with the big boys you need to work hard and educate yourself.
SARAH PALIN is disgrace to INTELLIGENT women of America. Look the way she answer questions. She is very embarrassing. Every thing is written for her. WHAT A BIMBO
IT DOESN’T SEEM THAT SHE HAVE THE INTELECT TO ANSWER VERY SIMPLE QUESTION.SHE INCLUDES A LOT OF “GOD THIS” “GOD THAT”.
You want to be VP to this great nation of AMERICA!!!!!

Actually, according to Wikipedia, "Palin spent her first college semester at Hawaii Pacific College, transferring in 1983 to North Idaho College and then to the University of Idaho. She attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska for one term, returning to the University of Idaho to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987." So, Hawaii and Idaho. There you go.
