Quark on Thursday announced that it has acquired In.vision Research, makers of Xpress Author for Microsoft Word. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

In.vision, based in Florida, develops XML authoring software. Xpress Author for Microsoft Word helps Microsoft Word users create reusable XML content for Quark's Dynamic Publishing Solution.

Other products developed by In.vision include DITA Studio, a technical writing system developed around the XML-based Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA), and Structured Product Labeling (SPL) Accelerator, which supports a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initiative.
