Yes, if .Mac is totally re-branded to (.Me?) something else yet meets the requirements above, this will be judged favorably. It's the same service, but re-branded. Totally fits the spirit of this prediction. (Sorry if you got bombarded with emails, Bradley - my session was cached and I couldn't tell that I was posting comments.)

Clarification request: If the new .Mac services that are announced are also rebranded (to some name OTHER than .Mac), does that count as "a new version of its .Mac service"?

I.e. if Apple announces a successor to .Mac that fulfills the criteria above, but is called something other than .Mac, does this prediction close with a judgment of success or failure? Does it matter if Apple explicitly describes the new product as an update of .Mac and/or migrate existing .Mac customers to the new service?

Today Apple announced a new Internet service called MobileMe - taking the best of .Mac and adding a host of new features. As a current .Mac member, your account will be automatically upgraded to MobileMe in July. For a closer look, watch the MobileMe Guided Tour and read below for an overview of your new service." We're pulling this one straight from TUAW:

"A little birdy told us about some unusual happenings at Apple. According to our anonymous tipster, .Mac will undergo a complete revamp that will coincide with the iPhone 2.0 launch (which everyone expects to occur at WWDC 08). We posted about the .Mac push e-mail coming to iPhone 2.0 last night, but according to our tip, that's not all .Mac users are going to get."

This is a prediction that Apple will launch a new version of its .Mac service to coincide with the iPhone 2.0 launch at the WWDC. To be clear, the iPhone 2.0 AND the new .Mac service must both be announced at WWDC (or before, we'll count that too). Additionally, the new .Mac service must include at least one of the following three features in order for the prediction to be judged favorably:

1.) Full over-the-air syncing including calendars, contacts, and email (similar to Exchange)
2.) .Mac syncing on Windows
3.) .Mac push e-mail
