This is back in the rumor mill in June about Google's VP of Search Product, Marissa Mayer, pushing for purchase of Digg.

It is officially a spoiled deal with Google walking away at the last-minute. Even if this deal gets reignited down the round, it is certainly over this time around. UPDATE: Uncannily, 5 days before betting expires on this one, TechCrunch has started stoking the fire yet again.

The seemingly never-ending drama of Digg acquisition rumors continues, this time thanks to Kara Swisher over at All Things Digital.

Who is the latest suitor? "Odds-on favorite and sources tell me much sooner than later: Google," Swisher said. That's not very much to go on, but enough to get the rumor mill chatter to start up again. We've heard similar rumors literally for years, most recently from TechCrunch on March 7.

The following comScore chart shows Digg's unique visitor data, which makes it plain as to why so many media and Internet companies have been eyeing Digg's healthy user base for so long.

This is a prediction that Google will make a public bid for Digg by July 31, 2008. Digg need not accept for this to pay out at S$100. This prediction only requires Google to make the bid public, and that it occur on or before July 31, 2008. Bets will be halted on July 28, 2008, and Judgment will be made on August 1, 2008.
